The science of brain volume

Understanding is the fastest pathway to healing.

NeuroGage is breakthrough software for measuring brain volume abnormalities, asymmetry, and change over time, which helps us understand the effects on the brain of brain injury and brain disease and assists with clinical decision-making. The brain is a complex organ with various regions responsible for different functions, such as cognition, motor control, sensory perception, and more. Brain volume can vary among individuals and can be influenced by factors such as genetics, age, and overall health.

Many patients with brain injuries or neuropsychiatric disorders, including mild to moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to sports concussions and acquired brain injury due to mold-related illness, have normal CT and MRI scans based on simple visual inspection by a radiologist. For years, advances in structural brain imaging have promised to remedy this situation. Finally, the promises of the research laboratory are readily available for everyday patients in the clinic, even for routine preventative care.

NeuroGage extends the utility of NeuroQuant, FDA-cleared software for measuring MRI brain volume. NeuroQuant automatically identifies multiple brain regions, measures the volume of each, and compares the data to MRI data from normal control subjects.

Symptom correlations with brain volume abnormalities

A lot is known about the relationships between brain structure and function. Often brain volume abnormalities can be correlated with a patient's neuropsychiatric symptoms.

Do you have any of these 7 symptoms?

The power of technology

The field of medicine has witnessed remarkable progress through the evolution of cutting-edge technologies in brain imaging. NeuroQuant and NeuroGage brain volume analyses help your care team formulate more conclusive diagnoses, enabling more targeted and effective medical interventions. We continue to update NeuroGage software through our research efforts to generate more precise and comprehensive data, all to better inform your health and your future.

Symptoms

PERCENTILES

Brain volumes are compared to age- and sex-matched controls in NeuroQuant's large normative database to identify findings considered abnormal.

LITERATURE

Indicators for abnormal brain volume findings consistent with the findings in peer-reviewed scientific literature for many brain disorders/diseases.

AGE COMPARISONS

Graphs of brain regions with atrophy equal to the average of a much older person based on NeuroQuant's normal control data.

LONGITUDINAL

Comparison of two or more MRIs to measure changes in brain volume over time that may not be detected in a cross-sectional (single time point) analysis.

QUALITY CONTROL

Add-on for protocol check that an MRI facility applied the correct scanning parameters plus visual review of NeuroQuant segmentation and Dr. Ross's sign-off on the NeuroGage Radar report.

CORRELATIONS

With a brief review of patient records for an interpretation of results, anatomical and symptom correlations can be made with brain volume abnormalities.

INTERPRETATION

When provided a review of a patient's history and symptoms, Dr. Ross is the top expert in interpretation of brain volume findings, helping other professionals better identify patient diagnoses and determine treatment plans.

CONSULTATION

Dr. Ross can consult with a patient's care team or medicolegal team via webcam to explain brain volume analyses results and implications for a patient's health and prognosis.
